In the Dervish Healing Order we say the prayers as originally given by Hazrat Inayat Khan.
Saul made a promise at one point to honor the request by Hazrat Inayat Khan to ‘not change the words of the prayers.’ Have him tell you the story sometime…
Sometimes we do a practice of saying/reading the prayers very slowly, with many pauses. Pausing at all the punctuation marks (along with other places one may feel drawn to pause) is one option for entering into such a practice. This practice creates a moment of space for contemplation and to breathe in the essence of the prayers.
