Beloved DHO Family,
It’s time to beginning planning and registration for this year’s DHO Camp, which will again be held at the Alton L. Collins Retreat Center (https://collins.gocamping.org/) in Eagle Creek, Oregon, near Portland.
This year’s camp will be from Sunday dinner, July 12, through Friday lunch, July 17, 2026.

Any previous dates that were conveyed were in error (apologies from Murad).

Room costs (including meals) will be similar to last year’s, that is:
Double occupancy for 6 days, 5 nights, with all meals:  $805/person
Triple occupancy (if available, with 1 upper bunk) with all meals:  $660/person
Single occupancy (if available) with all meals:  $1015/person
If you want to come for fewer than 6 days, contact Jude.

Day use (lodging off-site) with on-site lunch: $65, with dinner: $45, with lunch and dinner $85.  No day use is available without 1 or more meals.

$200 deposit will hold your space, with the remainder due by June 10.

Previous camps have filled up, so early reservations are encouraged.
In addition, we are responsible for a 20% deposit by April 13, so in order to fill that obligation, we will need to make a large payment to Alton Collins by April 13 or risk voiding our contract.

Therefore, if you are able to pay more than the $200 deposit, it will be most welcome.

I will be acting as registrar again this year, so you may communicate directly with me.  Payment may be made  as follows:
1) by check (made out to me, Jude Sargent, and mailed to me at 922 Stanyan Street, San Francisco, CA 94115);
2) by PayPal (at judesargent@yahoo.com)(Be sure to label your payment as FRIENDS AND FAMILY, otherwise PayPal will take out a percentage of your payment, and we will ask you to make it up);
3) as a direct bank transfer through Zelle (my Zelle address is 415 336-5749);
4: by CashApp (my address is $judesargent).

5. Venmo, arrange with me if needed.

As you know, classes are taught by senior DHO teachers, and none of them receive any pay or honoraria. All teachers pay their own registration fees and travel expenses.  The DHO does not charge dues or maintain a bank account, all registration fees go directly for food and lodging at Alton Collins.

Please make sure to include your contact information (name, address, cell phone number and email address), what room type you want, and names of preferred roommate(s).

Group shuttle service can be arranged from the Portland Airport.  Let me know if you want to sign up for that.

Please feel free to call, text or email me with any questions or concerns.

xx jude

A Memory of Murshid SAM

Written on the occasion of the 55th Urs of Murshid S.A.M.

Dear family,

Urs Mubarrak.

It has been fifty-five years since Murshid’s passing.

He never publicly proclaimed himself until he was on his deathbed:

“For I am the first to be born in the West to have received the Divine Message….”

We went from a small sangha in the basement of his house on Precita to a world-spanning phenomenon.

Mashallah!

I was present on the evening he took on his last new group of mureeds. My girlfriend, and soon to be my first wife, Majid, was to be initiated. A large group was present, all dressed up and flowered, awaiting initiation.

And we waited and waited for Murshid to appear.

Finally, after an hour or so, he walked in the back door in tears.

“This is the end of my spiritual family, and the beginning of my world mission.”

The room fell silent.

Many years later, I have come to understand what he meant.

There were around a hundred of us, with perhaps thirty or so actively involved in his activities — not an insurmountable number to hold in consciousness.

But thousands upon thousands chanting the Divine Names and moving their bodies in harmony — what beauty!

All blessings upon his memory.

May God be pleased with him and allow his work to spread and flourish.

Yours in service to the Real,

His Hakim

Our brother Hans Siddiq von Brissen has joined the Celestial Tea Service

Our brother Hans Siddiq von Brissen has joined the Celestial Tea Service.  He departed the body yesterday (November 30th, 2025) with family at home in Santa Fe at 5:15 local time. Ya Ali!Ya Salamo!

Ya Shakur for the posts he held with love, compassion, loyalty and respect:

A husband, father and grandfather. A devotee of tea, and a practitioner of loving kindness and being fully present in the moment. A founder and life time supporter of The Lama Foundation. A Sheikh in the Ruhaniat. A Shafayat in the DHO. A retired professor at Saint John’s. My brother for over 50 years. And Asha’s brother from birth. Ya Shakur!Ya Salamo!

May he find rest and peace within the Heart of the Beloved; now that his pain has been eased.  Our hearts reach out to Sakina, and his family. Thankful for their heartfelt support during his final days.

He shall remain in our hearts and remembrances. May his memory be lasting and be of service to those who follow.
All blessings upon his Return to the One.
Yours in Service to the Real,
Hakim Saul-uddin
